Apply now for the Women of the Future Hub Program that aims to enable a selection of Gabonese entrepreneurs to benefit from dedicated support including training, mentoring and access to financing.

This year, Eramet and Women In Africa are joining forces to set up a Hub in Gabon open to 30 women entrepreneurs rigorously selected by WIA. The first cohort will benefit from a comprehensive acceleration program offering training, mentoring, and access to funding sources.

This hub is the materialization of WIA and Eramet’s commitment to creating dynamic and innovative ecosystems in Africa through female entrepreneurship.

The Hub Femmes d’Avenir, the first of its kind in Libreville, will also be a place to host events to highlight and promote Gabonese women’s entrepreneurship throughout the year.

Through this program they wish to contribute to the development of a community of local innovators, who provide solutions to the many challenges facing Africa, particularly with regard to innovation and new technologies, Fintech, transformation agricultural; and to make viable and sustainable the business models that emerge from these solutions.

United Nations Young Professionals Programme 2017 (Launch Your Career at the United Nations)

The UN Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is a recruitment initiative for talented, highly qualified professionals to start a career as an international civil servant with the United Nations Secretariat. It consists of an entrance examination and professional development programmes once successful candidates start their career with the UN.

Requirements:

The YPP examination is held once a year and is open to nationals of countries participating in the annual recruitment exercise. The list of participating countries is published annually and varies from year to year.

Basic application criteria:

You must have the nationality of a participating country.
You must hold at least a first-level university degree relevant for the exam subject you are applying for.
You must be 32 or younger in the year of the examination.
You must be fluent in either English or French.

Convocation status & Examination centres

Convocation Status
Every year the YPP attracts up to 50,000 applications. After the screening of applications, the most qualified applicants per country are convoked to sit the exam in their respective exam subjects. You may check the status of your application by typing your application number into the search window below. The status search window will be regularly updated to notify candidates of their convocation status as soon as their status has been determined. All candidates will be informed through Important Updates on https://careers.un.org/ypp once the screening process finishes.

Recruitment process

Placement on the roster

Successful candidates will be placed on their respective rosters in July and will remain on the roster for the duration of two years. After two years the roster closes. Those not placed within these two years will no longer be considered for posts and will have to re-take the YPP examination if they wish to be reconsidered.

Type of contract offered

Candidates who are selected from the reserve list will be offered a two-year fixed term contract at the start of their Professional career with the Secretariat. After two years and subject to satisfactory performance, they may be granted a continuing contract.

Level of first placement

Your placement level can only be at a P-1 or P-2 level. Successful candidates holding a bachelor’s degree and no work experience will be offered placement at the P-1 level. Successful candidates holding a bachelor’s degree and two years of work experience, or a master’s degree and no work experience, will be offered placement at the P-2 level. You are expected to serve for a minimum of two years in that position before being considered for appointment to another position.

Step 4: Application evaluation

Your application will be screened to determine if you are eligible for the examination in the exam subject you applied for. If more than 40 applicants from the same country apply for the same exam area, those applicants will be further screened and ranked by a Human Resources Officer according to points given for the following additional qualifications: highest level of education completed, knowledge of official UN languages, and relevant work experience. Please be aware that many potential applicants do not pass the screening stage due to incomplete or inaccurate applications.

Ms. Geek Africa Competition 2017 for African Girls in STEM (Funded to Rwanda)

Ms. Geek is a competition designed to inspire African girls to be part of solving the continent’s challenges using technology and encourage them to choose a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Finalists undergo a week long intensive development program which equips them with presentation, public speaking and critical thinking skills to ensure they are prepared for competition day.

Since 2014, finalists have presented their ideas before a high level panel of judges. Last years’ finalists presented their ideas in the presence of The First Lady of Rwanda, Jeanette Kagame. This year, Girls in ICT Rwanda is proud to partner with Smart Africa to expand the competition to all its member states to crown the first ever Ms. Geek Africa. The Transform Africa Summit provides an opportunity for the girls to compete and collaborate with peers as well as participate in dialogues that influence Africa’s digital transformation.

Eligibility Requirements:

Female between ages of 13 and 25 years’ old.
Be a citizen of any of the Smart Africa member states: Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cote d’ivoire, Chad, Gabon, Mali, Senegal, South Sudan, Benin, Djibouti, Egypt, Guinea, Niger, Togo.
Contestants must be available between 5th – 12th May 2017.
Contestants must be in Rwanda to attend Ms. Geek training and Transform Africa 2017.

Benefits

The best solution from each member state shall be selected into the top 17 by Girls in ICT and Smart Africa Secretariat.
All 17 participants shall participate in a week long training and the top 5 shall compete on the final day for the Ms. Geek Africa 2017 title.
Girls in ICT Rwanda is a group of women professionals in STEM, who have come together to be role models for Rwandan girls and encourage them consider careers in STEM fields.

Selection Criteria

The document must describe the solution in detail, including the conceptual design, what technologies should be used to develop it, the role of various users, how content will be generated, and ultimately how knowledge is transferred.
The technology solution must be original, but may partially include the integration of existing technologies.
Please consider that your users will have varying Internet access in terms of how frequently they can use it and which devices they will use (laptop, tablet, mobile phone).
A graphical presentation must accompany the concept note, demonstrating how the solution will work and an example of the user interface.

The Biosciences eastern and central Africa – International Livestock Research Institute (BecA-ILRI) Hub, located in Nairobi, Kenya, is a shared agricultural research and biosciences platform that exists to increase access for African researchers to affordable, world-class research facilities. The mission of the BecA-ILRI Hub is Mobilizing Bioscience for Africa’s Development by providing a centre for excellence in agricultural biosciences, which enables research, capacity building and product incubation, conducted by scientists in Africa and for Africa, and empowers African institutions to harness innovations for regional impact. This mission is achieved by the BecA–ILRI Hub’s contributions to:

Research: enabling research to harness the potential of the biosciences to contribute to increasing agricultural productivity and to improving food and nutritional safety and security.
Education: contributing to the education and training of the next generation of African agricultural research leaders and scientists.
Innovation: promoting the development, delivery and adoption of new technologies to address key agricultural productivity constraints.

The BecA-ILRI Hub capacity building program is branded The Africa Biosciences Challenge Fund (ABCF).The ABCF program operates in the critically important intersection between agricultural research for development (ARD), food security, and individual and institutional capacity building.

Areas of research

Applicants must be scientists affiliated (through employment) with African National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) e.g. national agricultural research institutes and universities, and conducting research in the areas of food and nutritional security or food safety in Africa. Those carrying out research in the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply*;

Improved control of priority livestock and fish diseases including: African Swine Fever (ASF); Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) and Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia (CCPP); Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR); Rift Valley Fever (RVF); East Coast Fever (ECF); Capripox Virus diseases of ruminants;
Harnessing genetic diversity for conservation, resistance to disease and improving productivity of crops and livestock and fish (livestock focus: African indigenous breeds, particularly goats, chickens, alternative small livestock species);
Molecular breeding for important food security crops in Africa;
Plant transformation to address food insecurity in Africa;
Plant-microbe interactions;
Tissue culture and virus indexing for production of virus-free planting materials in Africa;
Orphan/underutilized species of crops and livestock
Crop pests, pathogens and weed management research, including biological control;
Microbial technology for improving adaptation of staple food crops and forages to biotic and abiotic stresses;
Rapid diagnostics for crop, livestock and fish diseases;
Genomics, bioinformatics and metagenomics including microbial discovery;
Studies on climate-smart forage grasses and mixed livestock-crop systems;
Microbial technology for improving adaptation of staple food crops and forages to biotic and abiotic stresses;
Soil health in agricultural systems.
Improved control of parasitic pathogens of plants (bacteria, fungi, oomycetes) that cause enormous economic losses as well as environmental damage in natural ecosystems (e.g.: Phytophthora infestans that causes potato blight).

Eligibility Requirements:

National of a BecA-ILRI Hub target country for this call: Burundi, Central African Republic, Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Gabon, Madagascar, São Tomé and Príncipe, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan. Under special partnerships and collaborations arrangements, applicants from western and Southern Africa are considered for the fellowship. . The applicant MUST be a researcher employed within NARS.
Currently engaged in research in food and nutritional security or food safety in Africa, or in a research area with relevance to agriculture in Africa.
Good working knowledge of written and spoken English.
Completed online application form.
A signed letter of endorsement / nomination of the application from the head of the applicant’s home institute/organization/university faculty.

Applicants stand a higher chance of acceptance to the program if:

They have own funding to fully support their research and all other costs while at the BecA-ILRI Hub, or
They are able to secure a significant portion (at least 50%) of their total research budget and other necessary costs while at the BecA-ILRI Hub. In this case they would be seeking partial funding through application for an ABCF fellowship.

The BecA-ILRI Hub has secured funding to sponsor several fellowships on a highly competitive basis. The fellowship will cover the following costs[1];

Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation STEM Prize Competition 2016 for Young Africans ($USD 10,000 Cash Prize)

The STEM Prize was established to encourage young Cameroonians and Africans, especially girls and young women to pursue careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

This competition brings together young scholars from both secondary and tertiary schools (between the ages of 13 and 21 years old) to design projects that have the greatest potential of positively changing their communities. Based on the recommendations of the evaluators and judges at the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation, winners will be selected for the eventual prizes.

A few years ago, the Government of Cameroon (GoC) launched its strategy to make Cameroon an emerging economy by the year 2035. For this vision to be realised, Cameroon needs to produce more professionals in the field of STEM by increasing the number of youths studying courses in STEM from 10% to at least 30%.

Hence the aim of the STEM Prize Competition is to raise awareness on the importance of STEM to an economy and encourage more youths to get into careers in STEM, consequently, building a foundation for Cameroon’s 2035 vision to be achieved.

Program Design

The STEM Prize competition will consider applications from teams/groups of 3-5 members age between 13 and 21 years old. Each team will design a project that has the greatest potential of positively improving their communities. The best projects will be chosen and the teams will be invited to spend 3 days at the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation where they will participate in several educational trainings. Prizes will be given out to the successful teams at the end of the competition.

Eligibility to Participate

To be eligible for The STEM Prize Competition, applicants must be between the ages of 13 and 21 years old and be citizens of CEMAC countries (Cameroon, Chad, Central Africa Republic, Congo, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea). An application must be made by a team or group of at least 3 people or at most 5 people.

Project Requirements

Project proposals will follow the outline below:

Names and Community(ies) of applicants
Title of project
Identification and elaboration of community problem
Proposed solution and illicit method of solving problem based on recommendations
Budget Planning
Partners and timeframe of project realisation
Evaluation of project.

Invitation to Top Teams

The top teams as chosen by the evaluators/judges will be invited to the foundation’s headquarters in Yaoundé to participate in an intensive 3-day workshop full of training on research, career guidance, and project implementation. These trainings will be carried out by experts in these fields.

Prizes

A total of 5,000,000 FCFA (approximately $10,000 USD) will be awarded in prizes and will be distributed as follows:

Winning team: 1,500,000 FCFA ($3000 USD)
1st Runner Up: 1,000,000 FCFA ($2000 USD)
2nd Runner Up: 500,000 FCFA ($1000 USD)
Other individual prizes: 2,000,000 FCFA ($4000 USD)

The foundation will work with all winning teams to get their projects up and running.

Organisation of Islamic Cooperation OIC is pleased to announce the first edition of Ramadan Social Media Photo Competition. The competition is open to all citizens of an OIC member state aged 18 and above. The winning pictures can depict social, economic and cultural aspect of the theme of the competition; The Human Face of Ramadan.

Entries can depict Ramadan’s spirituality, generosity, spirit of sharing, gathering, divers Muslims’ traditions and cultures during Ramadan which all fall within the OIC’s objectives of promoting Islamic solidarity, brotherhood and cultural awareness.

Prize: 6 winners with 6 best photographs will be sponsored for Hajj pilgrimage.

Eligibility: Open to all citizens of an OIC member state aged 18 and above.

Award

The 6 winners with 6 best photographs will be sponsored for Hajj pilgrimage.
The prize is transferable to another person nominated by the winner.
If a winner is suspected to have committed fraud in the process of winning the competition, his/her winning slot will be awarded to the runner up in the competition.

Selection:

The pictures will be published on OIC website and social Media platforms throughout the month of Ramadan.
OIC special jury will then select 6 winners 2 weeks after the close of the competition using specific criteria and the winners will be announced on OIC website 3-4 weeks after the close of the competition.

How to enter the contest?

To enter the competition, simply upload a picture taken during the 1437 Ramadan fast depicting the Human Face of Ramadan. Including your name, age, location, date of the picture, tittle and a short caption. Only non-professional photographers with keen eye and creative mind are eligible to participate. Pictures entered for other competitions are not eligible. The competition closes on 30th Ramadan 1437.

Entries received after this date will not be considered. Competitors must also like or follow OIC Social Media Platforms.

How to submit my photos?

You can submit your photos on OIC website only and by filling the form below. For practical reasons, the upload process will not accept images greater than 7 MB.
Please ensure it is in JPEG format. OIC cannot be held responsible for problems associated with entry submission. Describe the view and location of the image so we can verify its authenticity and eligibility for the competition. (Languages: Arabic, English and French).

Caution: Please avoid digital manipulation. Your photograph should faithfully represent the scene as you saw it. Only photos deemed suitable for public viewing will be published on OIC website and Social Media platforms.

The Junior Professional Programme is a recruitment initiative targeted for talented, highly qualified professionals who are mainly from non- and under- represented developing countries to start a career as an international civil servant with FAO.

Under the supervision of a senior staff member, Junior Professionals (JPs) work with international and national staff and are involved in the identification, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of FAO activities. Purposes of assignments vary and may have a country-specific, regional, sector-based or thematic focus.

JPOs are offered two years fixed term contracts subject to a one-year probationary period. This term may be renewed for a period of up to two additional years, subject to satisfactory performance. JPs will generally be employed at P-1 step 1 level on initial appointment and will move to P-1 step 2 level for the second year of their assignment.

Requirements:

Candidates for the JPP are selected on a highly competitive basis. The qualifications below are required for consideration:

Candidates should be 32 years of age or younger as of 31 December of the year of application;
Academic qualifications: advanced university degree (Master’s, Ph.D. or equivalent) in a field relevant to the work of FAO;
A minimum of one year of professional experience in a field relevant to the work of FAO;
Language skills: working knowledge of one of FAO’s official languages (English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Russian) and a limited knowledge of another, depending on the working language of the duty station;

Applications for the Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS) North and West Africa Regional Civic Education Workshop 2016 in Elections and Governance are now open.

The Mandela Institute for Development Studies hosts regional training workshops in Civic Education on Elections and Governance across the continent. The aim of the workshops is to create awareness, enhance knowledge and develop relevant skills in electoral and governance processes and leadership among participants, in order for them to effectively communicate and apply them in influencing and mobilizing other youth to actively participate in the processes and other community and national development activities.

The OWSD Postgraduate Training Fellowships for Women Scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDC) at Centres of Excellence in the South. The Fellowship is offered to women scientists to pursue postgraduate research in a field of the natural sciences.

This fellowship programme is for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa or Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a doctorate degree at a centre of excellence in the South outside their own country.

With funds generously provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), OWSD has instituted a fellowship programme for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDCs), who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a PhD, at centres of excellence in the South (developing countries), outside their own country.

Eligibility Requirements:

Open to qualified women science graduates from countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (see list below).
If applicants are over 40 years of age, they should include a brief explanation of why their research career has been delayed.
The minimum qualification is an MSc degree (or equivalent), or an outstanding BSc honours degree in the natural sciences, engineering or information technology disciplines (see list below).
Host institutions must be located in a developing country. This must be a different country from the applicant’s home country.
Applicants must provide a preliminary acceptance letter from at least one host institute. The letter must be prepared based on the sample on page 10 and be signed by the head of department, potential host supervisor or postgraduate studies coordinator.
The application will be evaluated more favourably if the preliminary acceptance letter is supported by a letter of commitment from the prospective host supervisor, describing why the host institute is appropriate for the subject of study and confirming the supervisor’s interest in working with the student.
Students from eligible countries already enrolled on a PhD programme in their home country can apply for the sandwich option. This gives them access to expertise and resources that might not be available at the home institute.
Applicants already on site in the host country will not be considered eligible since this implies that they have already secured sufficient funding for their studies.
The applicant must be willing to return to her own country after completion of the fellowship.
Accompanying persons are not eligible for support.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) a 12-week programme to equip startups with the basic skills required to launch and run their businesses at the early stage of their growth.The programme will bring together the best tools and frameworks to teach and hone entrepreneurship skills in Africa and globally.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme #TEEP, a Pan-African entrepreneurship initiative of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, is a multi-year programme of training, funding, and mentoring, designed to empower the next generation of African entrepreneurs.

The programme will be a mix of online and face-to-face instruction, including webinars and video tutorials with support from your mentor throughout. It will cover topics on starting and scaling a business, business development, marketing strategy, effective management and product design.

The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme is open to citizens and legal residents of all 54 African countries.

The Biosciences eastern and central Africa – International Livestock Research Institute (BecA-ILRI) Hub, located in Nairobi, Kenya, is a shared agricultural research and biosciences platform that exists to increase access for African researchers to affordable, world-class research facilities.

The mission of the BecA-ILRI Hub is “Mobilizing Bioscience for Africa’s Development” by providing a Centre of Excellence in agricultural biosciences, which enables research, capacity building and product incubation, conducted by scientists in Africa and for Africa, and empowers African institutions to harness innovations for regional impact. This mission is achieved by the BecA–ILRI Hub’s contributions to:

Research: enabling research to harness the potential of the biosciences to contribute to increasing agricultural productivity and to improving food and nutritional safety and security.
Education: contributing to the education and training of the next generation of African agricultural research leaders and scientists.
Innovation: promoting the development, delivery and adoption of new technologies to address key agricultural productivity constraints.

The purpose of the ABCF fellowship program is to develop capacity for agricultural biosciences research in Africa, to support research for development projects that ultimately contribute towards increasing food and nutritional security and/or food safety in Africa, and to facilitate access to the BecA-ILRI Hub facilities by African researchers (and their partners).

BecA–ILRI Hub seek applicants with innovative ideas for short to medium term research projects (up to 12 months) aligned with national, regional or continental agricultural development priorities that can be undertaken at the BecA-ILRI Hub.

Eligibility/applicant requirements

National (passport holder) of a BecA-ILRI Hub target country for this call: Burundi, Central African Republic, Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Gabon, Madagascar, São Tomé and Príncipe, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan. In exceptional cases we may consider applicants from other African countries. The applicant MUST be a researcher employed at a NARI or university.

Please note that applicants from BURKINA FASO, CAMEROON, ETHIOPIA, GHANA, KENYA, RWANDA, SENEGAL, TANZANIA and UGANDA are NOT eligible to apply to this call. A separate strategy has been developed to support these countries through nominations, to build on the on-going engagements between national research organizations and universities in these countries and the BecA-ILRI Hub. The nomination will also aim at filling priority national research gaps jointly identified through on-going engagements. HOWEVER, research scientists from the nine countries may apply to this call only if;

(i) They have own funding to fully support their research and all other costs while at the BecA-ILRI Hub, or

(ii) They are able to secure a significant portion (at least 50%) of their total research budget and other necessary costs while at the BecA-ILRI Hub. In this case they would be seeking partial funding through application for an ABCF fellowship.

Currently engaged in research in food and nutritional security or food safety in Africa, or in a research area with relevance to agriculture in Africa.
Good working knowledge of written and spoken English.

Fellowship Worth:

The BecA-ILRI Hub has secured funding to sponsor several fellowships on a highly competitive basis. The fellowship will cover the following costs[1];

The Government of India is offering the Africa Scholarship through Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under Africa Scholarship Scheme for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, M. Phil./Ph.D and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in various Indian Universities/Institutes.

At the inaugural plenary of the India – Africa Forum Summit held in New Delhi in April 2008, the Honorable Prime Minister of India announced the Government of India’s initiative to enhance the academic opportunities for students of African countries in India by increasing the number of scholarships for them to pursue under-graduate, post-graduate and higher courses.
The ICCR implements this scheme on behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs.

After training, each Fellow is placed with a company within Acumen’s ecosystem where they work on a key business challenge.
In the past Fellows have worked on projects ranging from leading operations of a new business unit at a cotton ginnery in Uganda, to leading operations at a coffee processing company in Rwanda, to building partnerships for a vocational skills training company in India.

Selection Process:

Project representatives from any region, educational sector or level may submit applications which demonstrate the quality and impact of their activities in accordance with the criteria.
Following this global annual call for applications, a Pre-Jury composed of education experts assesses the submissions to select the Finalists.
Following this, a Jury bringing together leading personalities from the education world chooses the six Award winning projects. Winners receive global visibility along with a prize of $20,000 (US) and are honored at the annual WISE Summit.

Loughborough University is delighted to announce full-fee scholarships for international full-time taught postgraduate students who are currently domiciled (permanently living) in Africa. These will be known as the Loughborough University Graduate School Development Trust Africa Scholarships.

The scholarships are being funded through a combination of generous external funding and University funds. The University will award a limited number of scholarships and the standards required are very high.

Students will be expected to fund their travel and maintenance costs through other sources. Evidence of maintenance funds must be included in the scholarship application.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applications will be initially shortlisted and the final decision on the awards will be made by a selection panel of senior staff of the University. The selection panel will use the following eligibility criteria when assessing applications:

Currently domiciled (permanently living) in Africa
Evidence of exceptional academic achievement (normally a 1st Class Honours Degree)
Commitment to return to their home country on completion of postgraduate programme
Evidence of the ability and commitment to making a significant contribution to their home country on their return
Full understanding of the costs involved in coming to study and live in the UK

Jury:

In each of the 34 countries in which the “Startupper of the Year by Total” contest will be held, a jury of businesspeople led by a chairman will be created. It will have at least 10 members, including the CEOs of Total’s affiliates in the country.
The jury will include managers from national and international companies drawn from a wide variety of business sectors (banking, finance, industry, service, etc.), representatives of public and semipublic organizations, officials from institutions, officials from national and international organizations and/or recognized experts and analysts. The jury will receive, evaluate and select the projects.

ROLE

On completion of the pre-selection stage, the jury in each of the 34 countries will select up to 10 finalists of the best projects submitted.
The finalists will then be invited to present their project orally to the jury, which will select up to three winners.

Olam scholarships: creating a generation of change catalysts for Sub Saharan Africa

The Young Professionals Program (YPP) is the strategic talent pipeline for the professional career in the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group. The Program is designed for outstanding young graduates who can significantly help the IDB Group to carry out its mission and attain its objectives.

This Program enables each Young Professional (YP) to receive extensive exposure and experience of the IDB Group’s various activities through job rotations in different departments. Participants will initially spend two weeks Orientation stage in HRMD. Then, 27 months in Foundation stage which will be split into three rotations of 9 months each in IDB Group departments.

Participants will also benefit from a coaching/career counselling arrangement and a wide range of relevant training and developmental opportunities.Upon successful program completion, the participant will gradually climb up the professional grades in the IDB Group.

ELIGIBILITY: Prospective candidates for the YPP must fulfill the following minimum requirements:

Holds a Bachelor degree in development, education, economics, finance, accounting, business administration, engineering, information technology and law or any other specializations relevant to the work of the Bank from highly reputed Universities or international centers of excellence.
Outstanding academic record. The indicators of high grades shall be based on education system of each country or region. The following grades from different education systems shall form a baseline for candidate’s eligibility for the YP program:

GPA 3.5 on the scale of 4 or equivalent for any other system
‘A’ Grade according to regional systems following ABC grading
‘Excellent’ (ممتاز) in Arab, Russian or any other region’s system following such grading system
Bien in French and Francophone systems.
2nd Class Upper Honors in British system
Shall be a citizen of an IDB member country; applicants from Muslim communities of non-member countries may be admitted

The integrated YPs shall be exposed to LeadDP (Leadership Development Program)
YPs to be fully integrated with the IDB’s operations and culture

Graduation

HRMD shall ensure that the YP is ready for the professional role
Direct placement on the grade of the position for which he/she was selected
Successful YPs awarded Certificate of Graduation

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Basic Salary: Internationally competitive tax free salary based on education and experience of the YPs.
COLA: Cost of living allowance as per the management’s decision.

The DREAM Project (with financial support granted by the European Commission through the Erasmus Mundus Programme) grants scholarships to students from ACP countries and staff members to undertake a mobility period, or full degree, in some of the best universities in Europe.

The SE Outreach Accelerator is an exciting capacity-building program that takes place in Stockholm, Sweden. It is designed to equip the participants with entrepreneurial skills to enable them to sustain and scale up their impact through having building a financially sustainable enterprises.

The SE Outreach Accelerator is a program for founders of projects/social enterprises who are creating positive social and/or environmental impact in developing communities.

Eligibility Requirements:

The SE Outreach Accelerator is open for applicants with:

Any background or nationality
No requirement to have a registered enterprise prior to the program
Both for-profit and non-for profits enterprises
No requirement to already have a written business plan
No requirement to have revenue streams/profitability prior to the program

To apply

You are at at least 18 years old
You have an operating project/enterprise that targets social and/or environmental issues facing the developing communities
Your project/enterprises can be scaled and replicated to benefit more people
You are passionate about creating positive impact with your project/enterprise and have the ambition of making it financially sustainable from sources beyond donations
You are the founder of such project/enterprises with mandate to make executive deicisions.
You can attend the Accelerator program in Stockholm full-time during April 11-29 and September 5-23, 2016 and can commit to spend the time in between to build on your learnings and meet the program deliverables.
You can fully participate in a program conducted entirely in English (read/write/speak/comprehend)
You are open-minded and willing to share your experiences in a co-working, co-learning environment

Program Structure:

The first physical part of the program will be held in Stockholm, during April 11-29, 2016. During this time SE Forum will provide the participants with workshops, lectures, mentorship and individual coaching which will focus on assessing and understanding the business opportunities and drivers .
The second physical part of the program takes place during September 5-23, 2016. The participants then travel back to Stockholm to spend another three weeks together.
During this time they will meet with their mentors, learn from each other’s experience and participate in workshops and coaching sessions built around business executions, all to ensure that they leave Stockholm with the skills and confidence required to scale up their social enterprises in the future.

Benefits:

SE Outreach Accelerator in Stockholm is a program that is provided free of charge. This means that there is NO cost of attendance, or application fee associated with the program.

The Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW) and the European Union invites applications from international students for the 2016 Scholarship of the Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Austria for Undergraduates, Graduates and Postgraduates.

Eligibility Requirements:

Eligible for application are
– descendents of forced labourers (regardless of their country of origin)
– or people coming from countries that have suffered exceptionally from the Nazi regime, especially from the recruitment of forced labourers.

Scholarship Worth:

The quota depends on the budget Grant benefit paid:

1) monthly scholarship instalment: 940 EUR

The costs for the insurance have to be covered from the scholarship.
3) The OeAD provides scholarship holders with accommodation (student dormitory or apartment). Monthly costs: 220 to 470 EUR (depending on the level of comfort requested by the scholarship holder).

The scholarship holder has to pay an administrative fee of 18 EUR/month to the OeAD for the provision of accommodation. The costs for the accommodation have to be covered from the scholarship.

In many parts of the world, local civil servants work under difficult circumstances. The communities for which they work are characterised by widespread poverty, a lack of basic services, high unemployment rates and environmental challenges. Moreover, their organisations often lack qualified staff and financial resources needed to deal with these challenges.

Still there are many young, ambitious civil servants that strive for better services and the development of their local communities. Talent for Governance supports them by providing opportunities for knowledge exchange and training so that they can develop their skills and realise their ambitions.

With a Talent for Governance scholarship, young talents at the local level increase their practical knowledge on topics such as management of waste or water, local economic development, municipal service delivery, citizen participation and accountability, fiscal decentralisation and local taxes, climate change and resilience, integrity and anti-corruption.

Eligibility:

Young civil servants working for local government in a developing country can apply for the Talent for Governance programme. They must have a strong motivation and a concrete project or idea to improve the performance of the organisation and create better services for their community.

Application is possible if you: work for a local government (not an NGO or private enterprise);

work in one of the countries listed on the DAC country list ;
be 37 years of age or younger when you apply;
have at least two years of work experience in local governance and prove your commitment to
work there for at least two years more;
speak and understand the English language well (all programmes are in English);
be able to write down and orally defend your motivation for and relevance of the specific programme;
be able to identify an issue/project as a real life case within the theme of the programme for which you will write a Back Home Action Plan during the Talent programme;

Encouraged by the success of the previous Africa-Europe Training Courses and the demand for capacity building opportunities expressed by youth leaders in the Africa-Europe Youth Co-operation, the North-South Centre will run the 11th edition of this programme. The course is organised in co-operation with the European Youth Forum, the Pan-African Youth Union and the Network of International Youth Organisations in Africa.
After last editions of the course held in Tarrafal, Cape Verde (2002, 2009); Mollina, Spain (2004); Coimbra, Portugal (2005, 2008) Almada, Portugal (2006), Polokwane, South Africa (2010) Mindelo, Cape Verde (2012, 2013) and Nairobi, Kenya (2014) this 11th Africa-Europe Training Course will be held 8 – 15 November 2015 in Nairobi, Kenya.
During the course, participants will develop competences and tools to strengthen their political participation in the context of the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership and develop competences for the capacity-building of their organisations as civil society actors in the development process.

The 11th AFRICA-EUROPE Training Course for Youth Organisations to be held between 8 November and 15 November 2015 Nairobi, Kenya In the framework of the 7th African University on Youth and Development.

The training course aims to:

strengthen the role of youth organisations as civil society actors and enable youth to organise and take action;
reinforce its political participation in Africa-Europe co-operation;
promote the global citizenship of young people in Europe and Africa.

The week-long course can accommodate up to 20 participants. Active participation and in-depth reflection are key features of the course. Participants will compare their approaches to youth work and youth participation, engaging in the implementation and evaluation of the programme with the team of trainers.
This Training Course is an opportunity given to youth leaders from Africa and Europe to share, better understand and integrate the objectives set at the international level in their work and contribute to their achievement. Some of these objectives (mentioned above) inscribed in the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership, help enable youth to take an active part in these strategies at the national and regional level and be further equipped to participate.

Profile of Participants

The participants in this course are representatives of youth organisations in Europe and Africa. European and African national and international youth organisations are invited to propose candidates for this course. The selection will be carried out by the North-South Centre in consultation with partners of the training course.

Approximately 50% of the participants in this course will come from youth organisations in Europe; the other half will come from youth organisations in Africa. Gender balance will be ensured in the selection process of the participants, as well as the balance between the type and/or nature of organisations.

Concerning participants and their profile:

should be a key multiplier playing an active role within a youth organisation, network or service at national or regional level, and plan to continue this work in the near future;
seeking gender balance;
diverse social and geographical background (including disadvantaged and minority groups);
aged between 18 and 30;
have already some qualification or experience in terms of international youth work;
be committed to attend the full duration of the course and be supported by a youth organisation or service;
be able to present the context of their work, their way of tackling problems, the challenges they meet;
be able to work and communicate in English/French.

Benefits:

The North-South Centre will do its best to issue a pre-paid ticket. In exceptional cases, participants might advance the booking of the international flight and reimbursement will be done fully or in an agreed amount.
It is expected that participants/background organisation support the expenses related with local transport in the home country, as well as visa and necessary vaccination costs.
The board and lodging for the full duration of the training course is covered by the North-South Centre (accommodation and meals). Participants will be accommodated in double/triple rooms.
There is no participation fee for this training course.

Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) Start-up Scholarships 2016 for study in Germany.

The Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) awards up to six four-month start-up scholarships to international MA graduates who would like to pursue a doctoral degree in history, sociology, anthropology, or political science at the BGHS. Recipients receive the opportunity to prepare a persuasive proposal for a dissertation project. Subsequently, they may apply for the doctoral degree programme at the BGHS and/or for scholarships, doctoral positions and funding programmes in Germany or worldwide.

Requirements

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in sociology, history, political science, social anthropology or gender studies; applications from related disciplines are welcome.
Graduates from abroad who wish to pursue a doctoral degree in history, sociology, anthropology or political science may apply for a start-up scholarship.
Applications from pre-doctoral researchers .
Applicants should speak either German or English fluently.
Neither German nationals nor foreigners with a tertiary education from a German university may apply (Bildungsinländer/innen).
The start-up scholarships are meant to further networking with scientists at the BGHS, therefore no prolonged archival or research trips should take place during this period.

Scholarship Worth:

The scholarships will be awarded for the Summer Term of each year (1 April until 31 July) and include a stipend of EUR 1,200 per month. This amount will be supplemented by an allowance for children if applicable.
Upon application, travel costs can also be covered by the Graduate School. Moreover, the BGHS will offer a study programme tailored to the particular needs of international MA graduates.
Scholarship holders will participate in workshops on German academia as well as on writing a project description and will be supported intensively in finding a funding for their research project.

The World Bank Group Internship offers highly motivated and successful individuals an opportunity to improve their skills while working in a diverse environment. Interns generally find the experience to be rewarding and interesting.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the internship, candidates must possess an undergraduate degree and already be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program (pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD with plans to return to school in a full-time capacity).
Generally, successful candidates have completed their first year of graduate studies or are already into their PhD programs.
This internship typically seeks candidates in the following fields: economics, finance, human development (public health, education, nutrition, population), social science (anthropology, sociology), agriculture, environment, private sector development, as well as other related fields.
Fluency in English is required.
Prior relevant work experience, computing skills, as well as knowledge of languages such as French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese are advantageous.

2017 United States of America (USA) Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV – 2017) – Live and Work in USA.

The congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program is administered annually by the Department of State. Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) provides for a class of immigrants known as “diversity immigrants” from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States. For Fiscal Year 2017, 50,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be available. There is no cost to register for the DV program.

Applicants who are selected in the program (“selectees”) must meet simple, but strict, eligibility requirements in order to qualify for a diversity visa. Selectees are chosen through a randomized computer drawing. Diversity visas are distributed among six geographic regions and no single country may receive more than seven percent of the available DVs in any one year.

For DV-2017, natives of the following countries are not eligible to apply, because more than 50,000 natives of these countries immigrated to the United States in the previous five years:

Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico,Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.
Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR,and Taiwan are eligible

Eligibility

Requirement #1: Individuals born in countries whose natives qualify may be eligible to enter.
If you were not born in an eligible country, there are two other ways you

might be able to qualify.

Requirement #2: Each DV applicant must meet the education/work experience requirement of the DV program by having either:
at least a high school education or its equivalent, defined as successful completion of a 12-year course of formal elementary and secondary education; OR
two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation requiring at least two years of training or experience to perform. The U.S. Department of Labor’s

O*Net Online database will be used to determine qualifying work experience.

Entry period

Entries for the DV-2017 program must be submitted electronically at www.dvlottery.state.gov between noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4),Thursday, October 1st, 2015 , and noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5), Tuesday, November 3 , 2015.
Do not wait until the last week of the registration period to enter, as heavy demand may result in website delays. No late entries or paper entries will be accepted.
The law allows only one entry by or for each person during each registration period.
The Department of State uses sophisticated technology to detect multiple entries.

2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders (Fully Funded to Washington DC, USA)

The Young African Leadership Initiative 2016 #YALI2016 = Six-week leadership and Mentoring Program plus a chance to interact with Pres. Barack #Obama.

The 2016 YALI Fellowship will train 1,000 young African leaders across three tracks, which include business and entrepreneurship, civic leadership and public management. The 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship is a six-weeks in-depth academic and leadership training at 20 top American universities.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, begun in 2014, is the flagship program of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking. The Fellowship provides 1,000 outstanding young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to hone their skills at a U.S. higher education institution with support for professional development after they return home.

In the summer of 2016, the Mandela Washington Fellowship will bring 1,000 young African leaders to the United States for academic coursework and leadership training and will create unique opportunities in Africa for Fellows to put new skills to practical use in leading organizations, communities, and countries.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, socio-economic status, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity. The Mandela Washington Fellowship is open to young African leaders who meet the following criteria:

Are between the ages of 25 and 35 at the time of application submission, although exceptional applicants younger than 25 will be considered.

Are proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Selection Criteria:

Selection Process

The Mandela Washington Fellowship is conducted as a merit-based open competition. After the deadline, all eligible applications will be reviewed by a selection panel.
Chosen semifinalists will be interviewed by the U.S. embassies or consulates in their home countries.
If selected for an interview, applicants must provide a copy of their passport (if available) or other government-issued photo identification to verify eligibility.

The UNFPA Internship Programme offers a small group of outstanding students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNFPA operations. It is designed to complement development-oriented studies with practical experience in various aspects of UNFPA work.

Applicants should have expressed interest in the field of development; ability to adapt to new environments and work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds. Interns work under the supervision of a staff member at UNFPA. The background of the interns is matched with the needs of the organization.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates for the internship programme are selected on a competitive basis. The profiles of the interns are matched with the needs of the organization. The following qualifications are required for consideration:

• Students should be enrolled in an advanced degree programme or have recently graduated;
• Students must have written and spoken proficiency in English; fluency in French, Spanish or Arabic is an asset.

Logistics:

Interns do not receive a salary or any other form of remuneration from UNFPA.
The costs associated with an intern’s participation in the programme must be assumed either by the nominating institution, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students, or by the students themselves, who will have to meet living expenses as well as make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and other requirements.

Building on the successful model of the Clinton Global Initiative, which brings together world leaders to take action on global challenges, President Clinton launched the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) in 2007 to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world.

Each year, the Clinton Global Initiative University hosts a meeting where students, university representatives, topic experts, and celebrities come together to discuss and develop innovative solutions to pressing global challenges.

President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton will host the ninth annual CGI U meeting from April 1-3, 2016 at the University of California, Berkeley in the San Francisco Bay Area. More than $750,000 in funding will be available to select CGI U 2016 students through the University Network and other opportunities to help them turn their ideas into action.

Requirements:

Students must be 18 years of age or older and enrolled in an institution of higher education at the time of the CGI U meeting in order to apply.
To be considered for admission, all applicants are required to design a Commitment to Action in one of CGI U’s five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health. All invited attendees will be notified by late December 2015.

Students interested in attending CGI U can apply as either an individual or a group.

Individual: A student may apply to attend CGI U as an individual. This student makes a Commitment to Action that he or she will carry out individually, or applies to attend CGI U as the sole representative of a larger organization.

Group: Up to three students may apply to attend CGI U as a group. These students collaborate on a Commitment to Action and apply to attend the meeting together to represent their project or initiative.

The group must appoint a group leader to fill out the first part of the CGI U application (which includes the Commitment to Action), and the additional group members will receive emails from CGI U with instructions on how to complete their portions of the application. It is the responsibility of the group leader to ensure that all group members complete their portions of the application

The Ericsson Innovation Awards 2016 is an open competition for students all around the world.

The Ericsson Innovation Awards are a global competition that gives students the opportunity to develop innovative ICT ideas in collaboration with Ericsson experts.

The theme for EIA 2016 is the future of city life. The competition is therefore focused on ideas that use ICT to improve the quality of urban life and to ensure that tomorrow’s cities are creative, connected and sustainable places to live and work.

This year the competition is all about cities. Today, more people live in cities than in rural areas, and by 2050, about 70 percent of the world’s population is expected to reside in urban areas. Ensuring that our cities are creative, connected and sustainable is a major challenge but also an opportunity to improve the lives of billions of people along with the health and future of the planet itself. What is your next big idea?

Requirements:

EIA 2016 is open to teams of two to four students.
After registration closes on November 30, 2015, ten semi-finalists will be announced on December 18, 2015.
Nine of the semi-finalists will be selected by an Ericsson jury, with the remaining place assigned by a public vote.
The ten teams will each work with two selected Ericsson experts to develop a minimum viable product (MVP).
Four teams will be chosen by the jury to participate in the EIA 2016 grand final in 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Benefits:

The winning team will receive a cash prize of EUR 25,000, with a second-place prize of EUR 15,000 and two runners-up prizes of EUR 1,000 each.
Career-enhancing incentives are also on offer: all participants will be invited to apply for Ericsson opportunities, and semi-finalists will be interviewed for internship or other positions.
