Application Deadline: 31st May 2019:
The Education for Justice (E4J) initiative seeks to promote a culture of lawfulness through education activities designed for primary, secondary and tertiary levels. E4J is excited to bring together policymakers and educators at the International High-Level Conference, “Educating for the Rule of Law: Inspire. Change. Together.” from 7-9 October 2019. The event convenes policymakers from different fields (such as Ministries of Education and Ministries of Justice), educators and academics to build bridges between these communities and discuss innovative ways to empower the next generation of change makers.
What can youth do to fight corruption, organized crime and other threats that are impacting our world? How can we make the world a trusted, safe and inclusive place? How is the rule of law influencing your life? How are you perceiving what policymakers are doing about challenges to just and fair societies? What recommendations do you have for the future? These questions should guide your entries.
This event offers an exciting opportunity for youth. We want to hear from you about your experiences, hopes and ideas about the linkages between education and the rule of law!
Requirements:
There will be three categories of applications, one for each of the education levels: primary, secondary and tertiary. If you are a student between the ages of 6-12 (primary), 13-18 (secondary) or 19-29 (tertiary) and believe strongly in the role of education for promoting the rule of law, we would love to involve you in our event. Successful proposal submitters will have the opportunity to come to Vienna to present their ideas to the participants of the conference.
Benefits
The top five successful applications will be invited to the event. Flights, meals, accommodation and cost for transportation in Vienna will be financed in accordance with UN rules.
Selection Criteria:
E4J welcome new and innovative ideas and encourage the use of different media. Successful submissions will demonstrate how youth can take action to strengthen and promote the rule of law. Ideally, they will involve a personal connection to an E4J topic, which you can learn more about on the E4J website.
There will be a select number of entries that will be showcased to an international audience at the Vienna International Centre in Vienna, Austria. The winners’ work will also be featured on UNODC social media channels. Entries must not, at the reviewing panels’ discretion, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
