Call for Applications: The National Arts Council of South Africa : France-South Africa Seasons 2012 & 2013.

The National Arts Council of South Africa  invites individuals and registered organisations to submit their applications for project funding.

The France – South Africa Seasons 2012 & 2013 is a multifaceted bilateral collaboration between France and South Africa, concluded in 2011 by the heads of states of France and South Africa. The goal of the Seasons is to create opportunities for exchange, collaboration and innovation in a range of fields. The South African Season in France will take place between May and December 2013.

The National Arts Council invites individuals and registered organisations to submit their applications for project funding in the project fields listed below.

Project fields:

  • CONTEMPORARY ART
  • PHOTOGRAPHY
  • MULTIMEDIA
  • FASHION
  • DESIGN / GRAPHICS
  • ARCHITECTURE
  • FILM AND BROADCASTING
  • LITERATURE AND PUBLISHING
  • THEATRE
  • CIRCUS / PUPPETS
  • STREET ART
  • DANCE
  • MUSIC
  • LITERATURE / COLLOQUIA
  • MULTIDISCIPLINARY
  • TRADE & INDUSTRY
  • EDUCATION
  • HIGHER EDUCATION
  • SPORT
  • TOURISM
  • GASTRONOMY
  • ENVIRONMENT
  • TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION
  • Science and Technology Thematic Areas:
    (Water Research Biodiversity Human Capital Development Bioeconomy (including nana-bio, biotechnology, food security) ICT Social Sciences and humanities)

SELECTION OF PROJECTS

Organisations and/or individuals can submit an application for funding or endorsement from the France – South Africa Seasons.

Proposals are presented at the Joint Organising Committee (JOC) of the Seasons for decision making.

  • Existing partnership arrangements between a South African organisation and a French organisation will be an advantage. Information on the French partner must be included in the application form.
  • Funding will be made available for projects taking place in France during August – December 2013.
  • Funding will not be made available for the production of films and/or documentaries.
  • Organisations/individuals that have already submitted an application for Science and Technology projects through the National Research Foundation, should not re-apply.

CONDITIONS FOR FUNDING

  • All relevant sections of the application form must be filled in completely.
  • Applications must be submitted on or before 28 March 2013.
  • The South African partner will be obliged to submit a Tax Clearance Certificate to receive funding, if granted.
  • Late and incomplete applications will not be considered and no exceptions will be made.
  • Applications from French partners must be submitted in English.

PROJECT FUNDING

Funding, which may be a partial contribution to the project budget, is granted by the JOC, based on the quality of the project, its relevance to the principles and guideline for the Reciprocal Seasons, and its feasibility.

Funded projects will be integrated into the programming of the Reciprocal Seasons. As such, it will benefit from the overall marketing and public relations campaign of the Reciprocal Seasons (documents, website)

PROJECT ENDORSEMENT

Endorsement is granted by the JOC, based on the quality of the project, its relevance to the principles and guideline for the Reciprocal Seasons.

Endorsement is granted to projects supported by a leading organisation with financial resources for the project.

Endorsed projects will be integrated into the programming of the Reciprocal Seasons. As such, it will benefit from the overall marketing and PR campaign of the Reciprocal Seasons (documents, website)
