AUDA-NEPAD Competition! Good Practices for Innovative Approaches for Implementing Equitable and Inclusive TVET in Africa.

Are you an organisation that excels at ensuring all of Africa’s young people have equal access to technical and vocational education and training (TVET) opportunities? Do you have programmes that specifically target women and girls, people from poorer backgrounds, persons with disabilities or migrants? If yes, then the African Union Commission and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) invite you to enter this exciting competition to find, celebrate and grow the number of good practices in ensuring equitable and inclusive access to TVET across all African countries.

Competition Details

  • This call for good practice submissions seeks to amplify the voices and experiences of TVET practitioners, and stakeholders across Africa who are working towards advancing equity and inclusion.
  • The ultimate purpose of the call is to develop a Toolbox which has a “Rich collection of Equitable and Inclusive TVET resources/”, that features good practices which have been gathered. By capturing a diverse range of innovative and effective methods, the treasure trove will evolve into a more comprehensive resource for advancing inclusion in TVET across various AU Member States and contexts, supporting their efforts to implement inclusive policies and strategies in their respective countries and offering opportunities to socially discriminated groups. This process will further contribute to the ongoing review of the Continental TVET Strategy articulating the emerging trends.
  • The Collection will be a digital resource which will be hosted on the continental knowledge platform ASPYEE (African Skill Portal for Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship).

This fits in with the African Union’s officially adopted theme for 2024, “Educate an African fit for the 21st century – Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality and relevant learning in Africa”.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Submissions will be accepted only from organisations operating within Africa
  • Good practice should come from organisations involved in youth skills development and employment (including public and private colleges, non-profit organisations, training providers, private sectors organisations, government departments and multi stakeholder lead projects)
  • Organisations with existing good practice on the ASPYEE website may still enter the competition. However, an application form on the website must be completed to participate in the competition. The organisation may use the opportunity to update existing good practice with up-to-date information
  • All applicants should submit applications using the provided good practice template
