Through the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3, we will be granting US $50,000 to a small, innovative, youth-led non-profit organisation which aims to solve the climate and health challenges facing young people today. In addition to the grant, the winner will also receive a fully-funded Scholarship to attend the 2024 One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada, as well as mentorship by AstraZeneca and inclusion in a development programme through the YHP’s Impact Fellowship.
Requirements
- A young leader (aged 18-30) working for, or leading, a non-profit organisation with drive and determination to make the world a healthier place for people.*
- Innovative solutions that have the potential to be scaled-up.
- Non-profit projects that aim to close the equity gap by helping marginalised young people access greater healthcare, while incorporating elements of environmental sustainability and/or stewardship.
- A locally-led, rights-based approach, which focuses on vulnerable and marginalised youth.
- Focus on local and/or national advocacy approaches that aim to engage with decision-makers and policy-makers to influence positive legislative change.
Eligibility

- Nationals of all eligible countries may apply for this scholarship.
- Applicants must demonstrate a positive impact related to leading climate/health equity projects benefitting youth (aged 10-24).
- Access to the internet and a device (computer, phone) that will allow them to participate in live, online Fellowship sessions – this will not be provided to Fellows.
- Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing)
- Ability to fully participate in-person, at the One Young World Summit (18 – 21 September 2024) in Montreal, Canada.
- Ability to commit to a one-year Fellowship program and attend at least 75% of modules/activities.
- Ability to lead and manage the implementation and reporting of the non-profit project funded through the Fellowship.
- Applicants must be founders or leaders of registered non-profit organisations that meet the following criteria:
- Have been registered and operational for at least three full years.
- Have had a total reported income in the last financial year of more than USD$100,000 and less than USD$2,000,000.
Prizes
The winning solution will receive:
- Scholarship to participate in the One Young World Summit 2024
- A US$50,000 grant from AstraZenea.
- 12 months of mentorship from a team of AstraZeneca professionals and partners. The mentorship team will work to accelerate your solution based on the needs of your initiative or organisation, such as:
- Business strategy
- Best practices for data collection
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Product design
The winning individual and their solution will also benefit from:
- Access to Networks: Participation in the 2024 One Young World Summit and Ambassador Network and access to an Alumni group of other young changemakers who are all passionate about youth health.
- Access to Development: Structured learning and development offerings to enable you to scale your impact, including both self-directed and live learning. This includes access to the One Young World Academy, an award-winning mini-MBA programme, and professional training.
- Access to Funding: All Fellows will be expected to manage a community project to improve youth access to healthcare in their community. The selected organisation will receive a US$50,000 grant to support this effort.
Timeline:
- 19 March: Application deadline.
- 8 May: Winners will be notified.
- 22 May: Acceptance paperwork deadline. Upon selection, candidates will be invited to sign the acceptance paperwork. This will include individual acceptance of the applicant’s participation at the One Young World Summit in person in Montréal and the organisation’s acceptance of the terms and conditions of the grant.
