Applications are now open for the 2024 ABSIP-STANLIB Bursary Programme. The Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) National Executive Committee is pleased to announce that the ABSIP Bursary Fund is calling for applications for the 2024 STANLIB Bursary.
STANLIB, in partnership with ABSIP, is offering comprehensive funding support to historically disadvantaged students, as defined by the B-BBEE Act, studying towards a career in Investment Management.
Universities:
Bursaries are to be offered for study towards an Investment Management career related qualification at the following universities:
- Nelson Mandela University
- Rhodes University
- Stellenbosch University
- University of Cape Town
- University of Johannesburg
- University of KwaZulu-Natal
- University of Limpopo
- University of Pretoria
- University of Venda
- University of Western Cape
- University of Witwatersrand
- North-West University
- University of the Free State
Bursary candidates:
- Bursaries are to be offered to students who wish to pursue a career in financial services. Specific preference will be given to candidates studying Bachelor of Business Science, Bachelor of Commerce, and Bachelor of Science; with subjects in Economics, Business Finance, Investment Management, Financial Analysis, Mathematics and Statistics
- Candidates must be full-time students, no permanent work experience (i.e. may have had vacation work experience, but no permanent work experience)
- The bursary will be reviewed annually based on academic performance and availability of funds.
Bursary Benefits
- Tuition
- Accommodation (preferably on campus, but if not, we will assess)
- Book allowance (i.e., Textbooks/course material)
- Stipend (based on assessment of financial need) and
- Laptop (based on assessment of financial need)
Bursary Criteria:
To qualify for a bursary the following qualifying criteria must be met:
- Exceptional academic performance (i.e., an average of 75% in academic performance in core academic modules/subjects)
- Optional but preferable: demonstration of leadership qualities and participation in extramural activities such as sports, debating, chess clubs
- Financial need
- Be a Black South African citizen, as defined by the B-BBEE Act, accepted and or enrolled at the above-mentioned universities
- One page motivation letter of why the candidate wants to study or are studying towards an Investment Management qualification
