UNESCO/Republic of Korea Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme 2014 (All Expenses Paid)

The government of the republic of korea, represented by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), is offering twenty five fellowships of two months’ duration for the benefit of least developed countries (LDCs) in Africa and Asia and the Pacific, within the framework of the UNESCO/Republic of Korean Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme.

Aimed at enchanting national capacity building, these fellowships will enable candidates to participate in a training course in the field of Education.  The training will be held from 1st september to 31st October 2014 at the Asia Pacific Center of Education for International Understanding (ACPCEIU) in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The medium of instruction being in English, only candidate proficient in english are eligible to apply.

 

Field of Study

Course Title:

  • “Teacher Training for Basic Education”;
  • “Use of ICT for Education (or e-Learning)”; and
  • “Leadership in Global Education”.

Duration: (2 months)

From 01 September to 31 October 2014

Qualifications Required

UNESCO will solicit applications from least developed countries (LDCs) in Africa and Asia-Pacific.

A. Candidatures must comply with the following criteria:

  1. Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree
  2. Candidates must be proficient in English
  3. Candidates must not be more than 50 years of age
  4. Candidates must be in good health, both mentally and physically
  5. Candidates must have a minimum 5-year career in the field of Education (i.e., educational policy, development of educational material or curriculum, school/class management and teacher’s training).

B. All applications must be endorsed by the National Commission for UNESCO and must be made on a UNESCO fellowship application form

C. The implementing agency in the Republic of Korea will be the KOICA/APCEIU.

D. The following documents must be attached to the application form in duplicate:

  1. Photocopies of diplomas and school-certified transcript of academic records
  2. Certificate of English Language Proficiency by an official authority (if English is not the medium of instruction in the home country)
  3. Two photographs

Eligble AFRICA  Countries

Angola, Benin, Burkina-Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Togo, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, and Zambia.

Facilities offered by the Government of the Republic of Korea

A. Beneficiaries of these fellowships will be exempt from tuition fees for the duration of the study/training.

B. Fellows will undertake studies/training under the supervision of an advisor or study director that will be provided by the host institution.

C. The donor Government will pay stipends to beneficiaries on a monthly basis, in local currency.  The stipends are intended to cover living expenses such as accommodation, meals, pocket expenses, and incidentals.  The donor will determine the amount of the stipend to be granted to beneficiaries.

D. Health Insurance.

1. UNESCO will cover international travel expenses, estimated at approximately  US$2,500 per fellow, and will pay a one-time travel allowance amounting to US $200 per fellow.
