THE 2014 BERTHA MBA SCHOLARSHIP for Africans

by lanredahunsi

Deadline:  15th October 2013

The Bertha MBA Scholarships were created to nurture a new generation of social innovators, and to explore entrepreneurial solutions to help solve some of the urgent social and environmental problems of our time.  The combination of scholarship, geographic location and leading MBA content in emerging markets provides a unique opportunity for the most talented and innovative students.

The Bertha Scholars are Africa based social innovators with a commitment and track record to creating positive change. The MBA provides the strong business skills and networks that will accelerate their impact.

Bertha Centre PhD scholarship

The Bertha Centre and GSB research office is developing a consortium of local and internationally recognised researchers to focus on the areas of social entrepreneurship and informal sector entrepreneurship.  The Centre has recently closed applications for PhD scholarships to enable promising researchers to participate in this consortium.

Applicants will become part of the research consortium and will be jointly supervised by GSB faculty and partner faculty from an international University.

The Bertha Scholarship covers full costs of the MBA programme at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of  Business for candidates committed to social innovation and entrepreneurship.
WHAT IS THE SCHOLARSHIP?
The Graduate School of Business at UCT offer five annual Bertha MBA Scholarships to students that  have met the requirements for the MBA programme and who are driven by their pursuit in social or  green ventures. The focus will be on encouraging selected MBA students to fully realise projects and  business ideas that make a real positive impact on society and Bertha Scholars will have access to
communities and to mentors to build on their ideas and create companies.

The Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship has been established at the GSB as a  result of a partnership between the GSB and The Bertha Foundation. In addition to the Bertha  Scholarship, the Centre will drive research in, and promote the practice of social innovation and  entrepreneurship and will provide a mix of courses and practical learning for any interested MBA  students attending UCT GSB, called the Social Innovation Lab.

Please see the information below about eligibility and applying for the Bertha Scholarship.
