Our research partners include the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanzania and the MRC/UVRI/LSHTM Uganda Research Unit and we collaborate with other institutions in Tanzania and Uganda and with various researchers in the UK Spain, Ireland and Norway.
We are pleased to offer a fellowship opportunity as part of our capacity development strategy. The scheme will provide funding for 2 years. The first year is to study for an MSc in Medical Statistics or Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The second year will be an attachment based at one of our partner institutions in Tanzania or Uganda working as a statistician or an epidemiologist to gain on-the-job training in clinical, public health or population based research in chronic diseases. Our focus at present is the control of hypertension, diabetes and HIV-infection. We are planning to expand to incorporate mental health in the near future.

Although our preference is for applicants wishing to study the MSc full-time and face-to-face in London, we will consider applicants wishing to study an on-line MSc course provided they can complete their study and attachment within 3 years.
The fellowship will provide full tuition fees, stipend, and one return air fare to London and a competitive salary during the 12-month attachment on a scientist scale at the MRC/UVI/LSHTM Uganda Research Unit or NIMR Tanzania.
