3D Africa Hack for Good Hackathon 2017 for Young Nigerians

Through a competitive application process, HackforGood will attract 20 students between the ages of 18 and 30. Applicants may be techies, programmers, humanists, artists, entrepreneurs, graphic designers, educators and creative visionaries.

This years theme is, “Connect, Collaborate, Create for Good.” With your innovative mindset and 3D printers, 3D Africa will come up with the world’s best solutions to real problems. Participants will be asked to use digital technologies in creative, innovative ways to benefit people and the environment with a view to offering solutions in a range of fields. The goal of this challenge is to create mock-ups or prototypes of products, services and ideas that are able to generate social and economic value for the community by hacking common objects and using open data, public APIs, frameworks for fast prototyping and software development, micro-controllers, sensors, and 3D Printers.
If you are interested in sustainability, the environment, Internet of Things, 3D Printing, Wearables, Design Architecture or all and anything creative, don’t wait to apply.

Teams will first participate in a Human Centered Design, Fusion 360, Arduino programming and 3D printing workshop. They will form teams and brainstorm solutions to problem in the area of health, security, transportation and agriculture.

Team products will be judged based on communicated criteria and prizes will be awarded.

HackforGood will:

 

  • Identify local talent with the desire to learn and embrace human centered design and 3D printing for impact.
  • Enhance positive team building for participants fueled with creativity, innovation and cross-collaboration.

Eligibility:
