The UNITAR Knowledge Systems Innovation Unit (KSI) is offering an internship/traineeship opportunity for young professionals or postgraduate students to contribute to the communication and out reach activities of the International Law for Development portfolio.
The KSI unit works to capture, organize and integrate content from multiple sources, transforming and customizing content into learning products, facilitating its delivery and tailoring instructional methods according to adult learning principles.
KSI is now accepting applications from qualified candidates interested in working for a maximum of six months on a full-time unpaid basis at the UNITAR headquarters in Geneva.
The working experience is designed to allow interns/trainees to strengthen their knowledge and gain practical experience in the training and learning fields, dealing with a variety of related aspects ranging from innovation and technology-enhanced learning to quality assurance, communications and international law.
They will also benefit from working in a multicultural and vibrant UN environment, as well as from participation in e-Learning courses available for UNITAR staff’s skills development.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the KSI manager, the intern/trainee will assist communication activities of the International Law portfolio. For example, by:
  1. Maintaining and improving the social media channels (FB and Twitter);
  2. Assisting in the design and dissemination of promotional material;
  3. Conducting research to improve communication activities;
  4. Supporting KSI with any other communication related activity.
  5. Supporting with the International Law eLearning activities.
Specific terms of reference (ToRs) will be established in accordance with ongoing projects implemented by the unit. ToRs will also include learning outcomes on specific skills to be developed during traineeship/internship assignment

Qualifications

Applicants should have background in a couple of the following areas:
– Communications
– Human Rights
– International law
– Education
– Psychology
– Instructional and/or graphic design

Skills required

The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and technical skills to assist with the delivery of the activities. Knowledge of MS Office package and software such as Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator, and web 2.0 technologies are needed. A high level of individual responsibility, commitment and initiative is also required.

Languages

Proficiency in English is essential; working knowledge of French is highly desirable.
Internship/Traineeship duration: 6 months (maximum)
Indicative starting date: early June.
