Are you between 18 and 30 and passionate about combating climate change?

The Global Youth Video Competition on Climate Change showcasing youth climate action.

The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change has teamed up with tve to launch a video competition for the best youth climate projects happening around the globe.

And the prize for two lucky winners is a trip to the Paris Climate conference in December and the chance to produce daily video blogs and stories for an audience on the web on events, people and activities of interest to young people around the globe.

tvebiomovies is a film competition now in its sixth year, and open to people around the world with access to a camera. Submit a winning film about the action you are taking on climate change and you could win a trip to Paris to report on the Climate Change talks in December.

Alternatively, you could receive US$300 to produce a one-minute film about the environment. Which bit of the environment? Choose a category and decide. Your film could be funny or serious, an animation, a drama or a documentary.

Guidelines

  • Entrants must be between 18 and 30 year old on 15 November 2015.
  • Films must be a maximum of three minutes in duration, including credits and titles. Any film that is longer than this length will be disqualified.
  • Films should be short reports about the activity or action in which you are involved.
  • Films must be submitted to tve ([email protected]) via file transfer (www.wetransfer.com) in the format of flv, mov, mp4, wmv or zip along with a completed online entry form.
  • You must agree to all the terms and conditions to enter the competition.

How to Enter:

  • Make a three minute film about the action you are involved in to combat climate change.
  • Complete your entry using the online form and send the film before 23.00 GMT 17 August 2015. The videos may be recorded in any language, but English subtitles must be provided.
  • Films which meet the criteria will be uploaded to tve‘s You Tube channel tveinspiringchange and a shortlist of entries will be viewed by the judging panel.

Categories:

There are two categories for you to choose from. In each one, 3 films would be commissioned t. The completed films will be shown on YouTube and the one in each category which has the most views will win US$1500!

The two categories are:

  • The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Green Economy Prize
  • The International Year of Soils 2015 Prize.

Prize:

  • The winner in each category – the film which receives the most views on tve‘s Inspiring Change YouTube channel – will receive US$1500 If your film is commissioned, there’s a 1 in 3 chance of winning! Shorlisted films will also be screened in Paris at the UN COP21/CMP11 Conference in December 2015.
  • Each winner will receive:
    • Round trip to COP21/CMP11 in Paris, France from 30 November to 11 December 2015 (inclusive of accommodation and other expenses); and
    • Position as a youth reporter for COP21/CMP11, responsible for assisting UNFCCC Newsroom team with videos, articles and social media posts.

Selection Criteria:

The winning entries being judged by our panel will take into account the following criteria:

  • Content: clearness and effectiveness of the video in documenting a story about climate change, promoting action and/or offering new solutions.
  • Innovation, originality, and impact: telling a climate story in a fresh and unusual way, appealing to a broad and diverse audience and encouraging further thought and action.
  • Technical expertise: quality of camera and audio work, effectiveness of editing and strength of script.
