Scholarship Worth: All these scholarships cover full tuition fees, a monthly stipend, a return economy flight, a settling-in allowance and other support whilst in the UK.
This programme will reopen for applications on 16 December 2014 and close on 26 February 2015, for study commencing in September 2015.
Canon Collins Trust accepts applications for scholarships to support taught masters degree programmes at certain UK universities.
School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London
We partner with SOAS to co-fund two scholarships annually. Applicants must:
- Be a national of, and normally resident in one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
- Be in possession of a good Honours degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
- Be applying for a full-time one-year taught masters course in any subject.
- Have at least 2 years work experience in a relevant field
University of Sussex
We partner with the Mandela Scholarship Fund at the University of Sussex to fund three awards annually. Applicants must:
- Be a national of, and normally resident in one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
- Be in possession of a good Honours degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
- Be applying for a full-time one-year taught masters course in any subject.
- Have at least 2 years work experience in a relevant field
University of Oxford
We partner with the African Studies Centre at the University of Oxford scholarship to co-fund one student annual to take up the MSc in African Studies. Applicants must:
- Be a national of, and normally resident in one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
- Be in possession of a good Honours degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
- Be applying for the MSc in African Studies at the University of Oxford
- Have at least 2 years work experience in a relevant field
Queen Mary, University of London
The Simon and Deirdre Gaskell Scholarship at Queen Mary
The scholarship at Queen Mary is funded by Simon and Deirdre Gaskell and limited to the MSc in Global Public Health and Policy. Applicants must:
- Be a national of, and normally resident in one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
- Be in possession of a good Honours degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
- Be applying for the MSc in Global Public Health and Policy
- Have at least 2 years work experience in a relevant field
University of Cambridge
The Canon Collins – FirstRand Cambridge Scholarship
This scholarship is co-funded by Canon Collins, FirstRand Foundation and Clare Hall at the University of Cambridge, as part of its new Global Leaders scholarship programme. Applicants must:
- Be a national of and resident in South Africa
- Have applied for one of the one-year taught Master’s degrees (MPhil) listed in the appendix of the guidelines, at the University of Cambridge
- Not have studied outside of South Africa before for degree purposes
- Be in possession of a good Honours degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged Black, Coloured or Indian students.
University of Cambridge
The Canon Collins – Tiso Foundation Cambridge Scholarship
This scholarship is co-funded by Canon Collins and the Tiso Foundation at the University of Cambridge, as part of the Global Leaders programme. Applicants must:
- Be a national of and resident in South Africa
- Be Black (inclusive of African, Coloured and Indian, as per the Employment Equity Act of South Africa)
- Have applied for one of the one-year taught Master’s degrees (MPhil) listed in the appendix of the guidelines, at the University of Cambridge
- Be in possession of a good Honours degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrate a good command of English
- Answer all of the questions properly and completely
- Complete the application and deliver all supporting documents by the deadline
