The Expat Youth Scholarship (EYS) contest is designed exclusively for students aged 13 to 21 experiencing life in foreign countries amidst unfamiliar cultures.  The contest is a testament to Clements’ ongoing commitment to the international expatriate community.  $10,000.00 (USD) in scholarship funds will be awarded to the winners of this year’s contest,

What:

  •  Take a photo visually capturing how you will use your experience living abroad to make a difference in the world, and write an accompanying short essay.

Eligibility:

  • Students ages 13-21 of any nationality who have resided in a foreign country for at least six consecutive months.
  • To qualify for the Ages 17-21 age category, you must be aged 17-21 by April 30, 2015, the deadline for entries.

Go to www.facebook.com/expatyouth and visit the contest application for your age group for more information.

Judging Criteria

Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

  1. How well the photo visually represents the subject of the entry
  2. How well the caption describes the subject of the entry, including grammar, spelling and style.

Winner Categories

Ages 13-16

  • First Place- $3,000
  • Second Place- $1,500
  • Third Place- $500

Ages 17-21

  • First Place- $3,000
  • Second Place- $1,500
  • Third Place- $500

Timeline

  • Deadline for entries:     April 30 (11:59pm EST)
  • Voting starts:                May 15th (12:01am EST)
  • Voting ends:                 June 15 (11:59pm EST)
  • Winners announced:    July 1 (12:01pm EST)
