Now in its 5th year the DSF Essay Competition is a National competition open to all Nigerian students of secondary school age. The competition is organized by The Dickens Sanomi Foundation, an independent non-governmental organization set up to promote the importance of education in particular writing skills amongst our youth.
Students can win up to N450k towards their school fees and the schools can win N500k towards a project for the school.
This years’ essay competition is split into two categories Junior Secondary School and Senior Secondary School.
The Junior Secondary School essay title
Do you agree exams are an accurate means of assessing student intelligence? Discuss.
The Senior Secondary School essay title
Should developed nations extend help (monetary or otherwise) to developing nations or should those nations be left to deal with their issues on their own?
Submission Requirements:
- Essays must not be more than 1,500 words long, they can be hand written or typed. The judges will be looking for students to have captured the relevance of the titles, grammar, presentation and the logical discussion.
- Students can submit their essays in the following ways, with their full name, address, school, telephone number and email address:

The Closing Date for receiving essays is 25th September 2015.
An award ceremony will take place on 7th of October 2015 (TBC).
